Universal, pleaaaaaase ...?

Leif - 13 Jun 2007 01:22

This is one nice, small application, I'd long wanted something like this. But it would be *so* much better if you could release a Universal Binary of it ...

Sketchbook

Peter - 30 Dec 2007 12:50

Very nice and clean – I think it would be great if it would save the sketches automatically, like Stickies does. If I sketch I don't want to think where to save things.

Great!

Camxso - 2 Jan 2008 17:53

This is surely a GEM! Featured: bubblebeanblog.blogspot.com

Thanks!

Nice

lazy cat - 9 Jan 2008 03:46

I had been looking for a very simple paint soft and found this. This is good to draw small graffiti.
Very nice.

Fine

.meee. - 20 Jan 2008 17:44

Thanks and thanks!
One idea for a better functionally:
- Need fullscreen mode, and maybe type tool..

great stuff!

Jinx Bunny - 24 Jan 2008 04:09

for people with tablets. this thing is more useful than any text based note pad program, and it makes drawings look great =D

one suggestion would be an e-mail function, one click to add it to mail
and even the ability to upload to a blog?

once again, great program guys. keep up the good work

From Argentina

Gaston Warley - 1 Feb 2008 15:00

Thanks!!!
I got a Bamboo tablet and a MacBook with Leopard... your program is fantastic!. Thanks again, from the south of the world.

PDF support ?

urri - 11 Feb 2008 18:53

Even if pdf files one supported, which would be genuinly cool and I would use this program daily. Those is at all technically feasible pdf support...?

Great program

Jonathan - 29 Feb 2008 08:26

This is a handy little program. I really like it. Thanks!

-Jonathan

thank you

ile'go jacobus - 11 May 2008 03:03

This is a great tool. Drawing-wise it does what I want. Freehand sketch without the complication of a million choices. Two choices I wish I had are 1) zoom such that I could see the pores in my design (200%, 500%, etc. and 2) square nibs. Thank you for simplicity.

Totally trasnparent

IUSIANI - 15 May 2008 16:04

Really nice!! but the transparent mode should be totally transparent.

Faster?

Russell - 15 May 2008 18:19

Neat little application,

It'd be nice to see a couple of things though:

- Auto save, as someone already mentioned
- Zoom, again, already mentioned
- Remembering your window position(s) & size etc...
- Auto resizing of the paper if you resize the window (And a warning if you're about to cut anything out)
- A larger 'Background' slider, it's a little fiddly being that small)
- Definable grid & line distances
- Faster tablet reading so quick movements/signatures are made out of spines rather than straight lines (See the application 'Scribbles' for a good example of this.

Thanks & keep up the good work guys, Russ.

Great!!

Joris - 26 May 2008 15:33

I just love this app! I use it nearly every day... Thanks so much!

Great app, some suggestions...

Drdul - 13 Jun 2008 03:51

Just started playing with a tablet for the first time, and really, really like this app. Thanks very much for developing it.

A couple of suggestions (some of which have already been mentioned above):

Keyboard shortcuts for making the brush size larger or smaller (I would suggest using the same shortcuts as Photoshop = Cmd-[ for smaller and Cmd-] for larger)

A longer "Background" slider (it's pretty tricky to move it just one notch at its current size

An ability to change the background colour from the default pale yellow

A larger maximum image size. I dragged a 2592 x 1944 pixel image (5 megapixels) into CocoPad, and it resized it down to 1037 x 778 pixels, which I am assuming is the maximum size limit. It would be nice if CocoPad could keep images at their full size.

Cheers!

suggestion

Wollie (wollie - 4 Jul 2008 05:37

neat little app. Works great with the trackpad on my Powerbook. Any way to configure an eraser by using a modifier - like holding down "E" and dragging your finger?

Response from the author?

Russell - 6 Jul 2008 13:16

It seems to have been a while.

Any news of an update would be nice.

Thanks, Russ.

re: Response from the author

Matteo - 6 Jul 2008 15:40

Sorry guys for not having made any progress but I recently changed job, house, country and had very little time to devote to DW. It will change with time, thanks for your comprehension and your interest!

re: Response from the author

Russell - 23 Aug 2008 10:55

Ah cool.

Nice one for the update & good luck with the new job, house & country :-D

Russ.

GREAT!

elmuymac - 13 Sep 2008 01:34

simple and powerfull. THKS

Sweet !

kgingeri - 13 Sep 2008 05:12

Ah - simplicity! Thanks DigitalWaters

l think the best addition for me would be to be able to Select & Move - but this iS great!

Love it!!!

st87 - 17 Sep 2008 00:54

But any chance that you can add a feature where you can put lines, text and images on an existing file?

Feature Request

Patte - 17 Sep 2008 03:12

I put it on my Stylus button, so it opens fast when I'm not in my adobe and corel programs.

Ideal for quick notes, very slim though = superb.

BUT: were is the clear screen button?

re: feature

Matteo - 17 Sep 2008 18:21

@st87: maybe I misunderstand the question, but you can open any kind of image file in Cocopad and edit it.

@Patte: Edit menu -> Clear, or Backspace key.

Fantastic

Miguel - 15 Oct 2008 23:45

I use big programs to draw on the computer but cocopad is the best.
It would be really great if you can add a very important feature for drawing: FLIP CANVAS or PAPER HORIZONTALLY.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for this very special sketchbook.

Feature request

George - 17 Nov 2008 22:23

CocoPad is excellent. Some small feature requests:

Basically I would just like to see more buttons on the toolbar so I can use CocoPad only with the tablet/stylus. The "Clear" function primarily. Actually, now that I think if it I could probably just set the stylus buttons to do what I need.

A pref to turn off the "Delete" warning would be great, or a special keyboard shortcut to delete without the warning perhaps (option-delete).

Yes!

tony - 5 Dec 2008 11:46

just downloaded it but know i'm gonna really make use of it as
a quick sketch rather than enter Adobe programs

Lost?

Russ - 9 Dec 2008 23:41

So much love & so many requests but not an update in over a year. Is this another lost gem :o(

Wonderful!

panapp - 18 Dec 2008 20:40

So simple, so perfect! Grazie mille Matteo! ;D

Perfect

andrewd - 23 Mar 2009 10:37

Exactly what I was looking for: simple, lightweight, pressure sensitive. Thanks a lot for developing it, maintaining it, and putting it out there.

It is simple and great

Wilson - 2 Apr 2009 16:49

Cocopad is simple and great. Wonderful.

But I have some suggest,
1. Can open a image/photo and sketch on it. Sketch can be save with that image as a new image.

Thanks. Looking forward to the new version.

Odd Problem with Snow Leopard

Dan - 20 Sep 2009 01:05

Cocopad is very nice and simple tool. I use it for working on math equations. Saves a lot of paper.

I have run into a problem with 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Using a WACOM Intuos 3 tablet, when I draw it does not show up until I stop moving. It shows up immediately when I use the mouse. I checked another application (Art Rage) and the tablet work fine there (can see the line as I draw it).
Anyone have any ideas why it would wait until I stop moving to show the line?

Thanks,
Dan

CocoPad 1.0 : Problem with Sno

rabbitmoon - 23 Oct 2009 01:37

I also have same problem with Dan.
I use Bamboo pen&touch on Snow Leopard ,MacBook 1st gen.
Anyway I still love Cocopad to use note everything I thought.

Thank you,
RM

Layers + more colors?

Jeroen - 7 Feb 2010 08:56

Hey, I'm using this for everything from drawing to lectures notes and to-do lists :)

Something that would add a lot(!) of power to this tool is layer, 2-3 layers to switch between.

And also, shouldn't be that hard ;) , adding more than four simultaneous colors (using palette, but still)...

Thanks again for an awesome tool.

Fullscreen + Shortcut key for

Jeroen - 17 Feb 2010 01:45

Fullscreen + Shortcut key for colol pallate
These two options would drastically improve the app. It's awesome none the less but still please give us this....I would pay this app if it just had some more added functionality.

Isn't it cool if this wor

A.K. - 27 Feb 2010 03:13

This is a very nice app and I've been looking for such tool. First of all, It's all free!

When Apple's iPad become available, a drawing tool like this app would be one of the most popular one, I think.

If you wish to continue to develop this app, I want it to be compatible with iPad.

Thanks for a great works!

marvelous low foot print app

mazen - 24 Aug 2010 23:26

thank you guys this nifty tool is so marvelously practical..

Responds better than drawing i

The Rat - 12 Nov 2010 09:29

I've been using CocoPad for almost a year. Been running on a Mac Pro and also an older PowerMac G4 and works like a charm. I feel like the drawing capability and smoothness responds a lot better than the pencil tools in Photoshop.

Cool; wish for a few more feat

Steve - 12 Feb 2011 01:56

Oh, I just figured out the brush size slider; didn't notice it doing anything but now figured it out. Maybe the default should be to show the tool text description.

I wish copy with the background would capture the stuff behind it when in transparent mode. Oh well, can just capture the Mac's screen with the normal cmd-shift-4.

The old paintbucket fill tool would be useful.

Ability to type in text would be nice. From the menu, Edit > Special Characters brought up a window to choose characters, but the insert did not do anything.

I realize this was meant to be a very simple tool, but a paintbucket fill tool and a text tool would help a lot and not really complicate the interface at all.

a few more features

Steve - 12 Feb 2011 02:02

... and a few more drawing shapes like a circle and box tool wouldn't hurt either.

But regardless, it looks like the niche capability here is to go into transparent background mode, expand the window canvas around a web page or document that needs comments applied to it, then use the pencil tool (probably with a color applied) to highlight or mark up the document. Use cmd-shift-4 to snap that part of the screen and you have a very quick graphical annotation of a document or web page that would have otherwise been tough to describe in words.

Stroke delay in Snow Leopard

Luke - 21 Apr 2011 03:32

I'm experiencing the same problem as Dan. The line doesn't show up until I lift the pen. I'm just chiming in to make the developers aware that it is a consistent problem with SnoLep OS. I have a Promac with Tiger and Cocopad works sublimely on it. Big fan of the transparancy. Just hope for a patch for the newer OS. Thanx

Please iPad app released

heego - 16 May 2011 10:00

Enough for this beautiful pen and eraser.

Thank You Again

Gaston Warley - 24 Feb 2012 08:09

Juna, Matteo:

I wrote from Argentina, four years ago. Now, I use a new MacMini i7, Wacom Intuos4 Wireless and Lion 10.7.3. (I hope works in Mountain Lion) The CocoPad still work perfect!!!!.
Thank you again!!! Good Luck!
